Dr. Ted Hsu is a former Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, Ontario. He was the Liberal critic for Science and Technology and Post-Secondary Education and one of only two MPs in the 41st Parliament to hold a PhD in a STEM field. Dr. Hsu graduated from Queen’s University in 1984 with a B.Sc. Hons. Physics. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from Princeton University in 1989. He worked as a researcher with 25 published papers in physics; as an interest rates researcher and trader in Paris and Philadelphia for Banque Nationale de Paris; and as the manager of an equities trading desk in the Tokyo office of Morgan Stanley. Just prior to entering politics, Dr. Hsu was the executive director of SWITCH, a Kingston-based sustainable energy association.
